The Lakers did not start in Los Angeles, they actually have their roots in Minneapolis. The Minneapolis Lakers weren’t a top notch team until they drafted the great George Mikan. The man has his own drill after him, to be fair its a pretty simple drill where you just shoot a lay up on each side of the goal, and repeat until you make 30 on each side, but still thats pretty cool having a drill named after you! George Mikan began the winning legacy for the lakers and really laid the ground work for succes for players like, Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, and Wilt Chamberlain. George Mikan’s career was cut short and was dearly missed by the frtanchsie, but no one can argue the impact Mikan had on the Lakers and the game of basketball itself.
Phil Jackson, in many views, is seen as the greatest professional coach of all time. Coaching players like Michael Jordan, Dennis Rodman, Shaquille O’neal, Scottie Pippen, and many more. These hall of fame players just add to the list of accolades Phil Jackson can add to his resume. The most important stat however is his 11 championships. 6 with the bulls and 5 with the lakers. The Lakers Dynasty, like the bulls was a run for the ages. He began to be called the Zen Master during his career with his Lakers for showing little to know emotion, but still communicating with his team what he wanted to accomplish. Phil Jackson retired now was the quietest superstar to come through the organization, and now retired, has almost dropped off face of the earth.
This coming season will likely be an odd one for Lakers fans, since they are lacking the pure talent they have had in the past. Since Dwight Howard the superstar center didn’t turned out as planned, the Lakers had to reboot their plan to get at least one more championship while Kobe was still able to perform at elite level. With returners like Pau Gasol, Steve Nash, and Kobe Bryant of course, those names carry weight. However their age will likely take effect to them, and cause them to miss more than their fair share of games. Overall the season is going to be a roller coaster of emotions and tons of surprises. A true sports fan can only hope for some drama out of Laker Land, Lord knows its never boring.
This is a picture of THE Black Mamba, Kobe Bryant! probably the greatest Laker of all time in my opinion. Kobe has earned the right to be the only player closest to Michael Jordan in talent. Even the King himself MJ mentions that Kobe is the only one who could beat him while Jordan was in his prime.
SOOO many legends have come through the Lakers organization. Which one is the best?!? Jerry West? who is the actual NBA logo, or maybe Wilt Chamberlain? the first and only player to score 100 points in a single game? or maybe Kareem Abdul-Jabar? The king of scoring and holds the record for most points. How about Magic Johnson? who is one of the greatest and if not the greatest player of all time? We cant even have this conversation without mentioning Kobe Bryant Right? So I’d love to hear to some feedback on who the greatest of all time is!
Hello everyone, The Los Angelese Lakers may be the most prolific sports franchise in the history of sports. With so many championships, and hallo famers that have come through its so easy to see why this team is purely magnificent. I chose this topic because I am a Lakers fan, and have been since I lived there in 2002. I look forward to keeping you all updated on this topic, so keep looking out for more updates.
My favorite vacation spot ever was getting a trip to Rome, Athens, and London. We went all over the cities and explored the historical sites. I was 13 when I went so all of the history and culture was very new to me. It was a wonderful experience that makes me want to go bakc to again in the near future.
